The MT Report Generator is a component for PULSE that helps you to easily generate Word, Excel, ASCII und PDF reports.

Installation of the component for the PULSE PC

Please double click on the MTPulseReporter.exe program and follow the installation instructions.

 

Insert the component into a PULSE project

  • Please open the component organizer with a click on the toolbar icon or use the short cut ctrl+9
  • Chose a Component Group (eg. Tools) and use a right click to open the menu.
  • Please select insert and than the browse button.
  • You can now select the component from the list and insert it with a click on O.K. into the current project.
  • (Hint: Select the first item and press the first letter of the component you want to insert. The marker will jump to the component that matches the first letter.)
  • After that the component is now inserted into the Component Group. To activate the component please double click on the component name. The component is inserted into the current Task. If it needed that the component is shown on more than one task this step must be done for every task.

Word Report Tab

The table lists configured reports available from the PULSE Report Organizer, which can be toggled by the toolbar icon or by keyboard short cut ctrl+8. To setup Word Reports here, please hit the F1 key
and follow the PULSE Help. Select one or more Reports from the table by check mark.

The file names are automatically suggested but can be changed by the user. To automatically label the reports created the following auto tag can be used: [Time Stamp] fills in the actual time like YYYY-MM-DDThh-mm-ss, e.g. [Time Stamp]MyReport leads to a filename like "2008-11-28T16-35-22-MyReport".

Excel Report Tab

The functions to be exported to the selected Excel template (see Settings) have to be selected in the table: First select a Function Group and then the Function to be exported itself.

In the column “Excel Worksheet” the worksheet of the Excel Template to be filled with the data is allocated by keying in its name as it exists in the Excel Worksheet. There a re different scenarios according to the entries made. "auto" will internally generate a name basing on the Function Group and Function name. An user entered name will use that name for the Worksheet. In both cases a Worksheet is created if it is not exists in the Excel template.

If a Worksheet "MetaData" exists in the Excel template than it will be filled out with the current time and date of the report creation.

The PULSE function data will be filled in the corresponding Excel Worksheets at cell A1.

Existing Excel Worksheet having different names than ones in the MT PULSE Reporter table will stay untouched.

ASCII Export Tab

The functions to be exported to the setup location (see Settings) have to be selected in the table: First select a Function Group and then the Function to be exported itself.

With the column type is it possible to specify the export type for the PULSE function.

The functions to be exported to the selected OpenOffice Calc template (see Settings) have to be selected in the table: First select a Function Group and then the Function to be exported itself.

Toggle PULSE Report Organizer for setting up the Word Report Template.

Decide if PDF-Copies shall be made when creating the Word Report.

The "Output directory" is the location where the Word and the PDF Report are saved.

The MT PULSE Reporter component has a COM Interface. So it is possible for other programs to start a report generation. The MTReportGeneratorWithoutPDM DLL must be included into your project and the following methods are accessible:

  • AddMetaData(String Key, String Value) The meta data are used for the Excel report and added onto the worksheet MetaData.
  • RemoveMetaData(String Key)
  • GetMetaDataKeys() The result value is a String Array that includes the meta data key names.
  • GenerateReport() The result value is a Boolean that indicates the success of the report generation.
